Introducing weekly and monthly AI Insights in KULG
We’re excited to introduce weekly and monthly AI insights for runners on the Runner plan. These insights are designed to help runners understand their training better, discover patterns in their training, reflect on recent progress, and make informed decisions for what comes next.
Built on science-based principles
Our AI follows the science-based training principles defined in KULG’s internal knowledge base that we’ve put together with the help of Estonian scientists. This ensures insights are grounded in sustainable training practices and focused on long-term progress rather than short-term gains.
AI summaries in Strava and Garmin primarily focus on individual workouts and short-term training status. KULG’s AI insights are designed around week- and month-level analysis that compares each period to recent training history. Combining training and recovery data with qualitative feedback and individual context, KULG explains why changes are happening and what to do next.
Insights appear automatically at the start of each new week or month. Each insight includes a training summary for a specific period, along with a personalised tip to help guide the next block of training. Over time, this feature will include quarterly and annual insights as well.
AI insights are available on KULG Runner plan.
How AI insights work
KULG’s AI analyses the data that the runner has added to the app to generate insights that reflect their unique training and recovery patterns. The more data the runner adds, the more personalised and relevant these insights become.
Our AI evaluates training load, variety, aerobic fitness progression, and recovery, while considering the broader context of the individual’s training. It takes into account a wide range of inputs, including:
Training data: activity data, notes, tags, perceived effort, and feelings
Recovery data: HRV, resting heart rate, sleep quality, readiness, sleep hours from Oura, and more
Long-term goals and experience level: set during onboarding
Physiological data: age, sex, height, weight, and other profile details
AI insights appear alongside other KULG pattern detection insights in the app header and can be accessed from the list of insights. All AI insights are visible only to the specific runner. They are not shared with other runners or coaches, even if they’ve been granted access to training data.
We’ll continue refining and enhancing our AI insights over time based on user feedback. We also plan to deepen the analysis and provide more targeted tips in specific focus areas, helping runners improve while avoiding injuries and other common issues.
